Corey LaJoie’s Character Building Day Nets 23rd Place Finish in Texas

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (November 6, 2016) – Corey LaJoie has shined behind the wheel of the No. 24 youtheory Toyota and had high expectations as he entered the last three races of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season.  Unfortunately, LaJoie’s string of strong performances would hit a road bump as he would settle for a disappointing 23rd place finish in the running of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway.

“That was not the type of weekend we were looking for,” said LaJoie.  “We had some issues on Friday during our practices but the guys on this JGL Racing team had them fixed before qualifying on Saturday.  But in the race our No. 24 youtheory Toyota was just tight and nothing we did seemed to help it.  Then we had a loose wheel and had to come down pit road a little earlier than planned and then ended up with a pit road penalty as well.  It was all frustrating but a day that was a character building one for me.  We will put this behind us and learn from it and head to Phoenix next week.”

LaJoie would start the 300-mile event from the 23rd position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day.  Early in the race it was apparent that LaJoie was struggling with the handling on his No. 24 youtheory Toyota.  After an early caution, a long green flag run followed with disaster striking on lap 41 as Corey suffered from a loose wheel forcing him to pit road.  A loose tire on pit road during the stop resulted in a painful pass through penalty as well – all costing the loss of a few laps to the field.

The remainder of the race would see LaJoie and his JGL Racing crew continue to attempt to improve the handling of their No. 24 youtheory Toyota while fighting for every position on the track.  At the end of the 200-lap event, LaJoie would safely come home in the 23rd position.

“We have had solid runs our previous two races but this weekend was a challenge for us,” added Corey.  “As I stated I will use this as a good learning experience and turn my focus on Phoenix.  Everyone on this team works hard and I know we will rebound with a much better performance next week in Phoenix.”

The NASCAR XFINITY Series will next head to Phoenix International Raceway for the running of the Ticket Galaxy 200. The 32nd race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday November 12th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
