Dakoda Armstrong Scores Top-20 Finish at the Magic Mile

LOUDON, NEW HAMPSHIRE (July 17, 2016) – Dakoda Armstrong entered the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway carrying some positive momentum and he and his JGL Racing team did their best to continue it.  The New Castle, Indiana native piloted his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to a 17th place finish in the running of the AutoLotto 200 at the track known as the “Magic Mile”.NHpostrace28

“Overall this wasn’t too bad of a day for us,” said Armstrong.  “We chased the track a little bit in the early portion of the race but we got our No. 28 Winfield Toyota dialed in pretty good there in the second half of the race.  We had one adjustment that I think we went too far on but overall it was a decent day.”

On the day he was celebrating his 25th birthday, Dakoda would start the scheduled 200-lap event from the 19th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day.  In the early stages of the race he would report to his JGL Racing crew that his No. 28 Winfield Toyota was just too tight in the center of the corner which was hurting his drive off.  A caution on lap 50 allowed for the first trip of the day down pit road and some key adjustments.

With the handling of his No. 28 Winfield Toyota better, Armstrong would charge inside the top-15 at the halfway mark of the event.  Dakoda would do a tremendous job avoiding a few accidents late in the race which allowed him to safely come home with his eighth top-20 finish of the season.

“We had some late race excitement right in front of us but with some good spotting and good luck we were able to avoid all of it,” added Dakoda.  “I think we should have had a little better finish that we did today but again overall it wasn’t too bad.  We head to Indianapolis next which is a home race for me and a big event for our sponsor Winfield.  We look to continue with our recent run of finishes there.”

The 17th-place finish would keep Armstrong in the 15th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers’ standings – 29 points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will next head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the running of the Lilly Diabetes 250.  The 18th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday July 23rd and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 3:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
