Drew Herring Shines in JGL Racing Debut at Monster Mile

DOVER, DE (May 15, 2016) – In his much anticipated return to NASCAR XFINITY Series action after almost a three year absence, Drew Herring reminded everyone that he is one of the best young talents in the sport.  The North Carolina native worked well with the JGL Racing team and quickly got his No. 24 Young Guns Toyota up to speed on his way to an impressive 14th-place finish in the running of the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet 200 at Dover International Speedway.

“I truly appreciate the opportunity given to me by everyone at JGL Racing,” said Herring.  “We learned a lot together over the last few days and continued to make gains all the way up to the checkered flag.  We actually dealt with some clutch and brake issues otherwise I think we would have had a top-10 run.”

With the Dover event being the third out of four Dash 4 Cash races, Drew would start in Heat 1 from the 10th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day.  The Heat race would find the No. 24 Young Guns Toyota dealing with a little loose condition but Herring would utilize the 40-lap event as a test session for the upcoming Main event. Starting from the 21st position for the Main event, Drew would quickly move forward in the field and provided valuable feedback to his crew.  With only two trips down pit road in the short 120-lap Main event, Herring would battle and safely bring his No. 24 Toyota home to a strong 14th-place finish.

“That sure was a lot of fun out there today – I have been missing this way too much,” added Drew.  “I jumped at the chance to run this race with JGL Racing and I think we worked very well together.  Hopefully I was able to help them out with some feedback and it feels great to get in a solid finish after not running in a race for well over two years.  I hope we get to do this again sometime soon.”

After a week off, the NASCAR XFINITY Series will return to action on Saturday May 28th for the running of the Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
